Resources to support safer modification of
food and drink. Safety Alert.

Dysphagia is the medical term for swallowing difficulties and a sign or symptom of disease.
A review of National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) incidents over a recent two-year period identified seven reports where patients appear to have come to significant harm because of confusion by patients, carers and healthcare staff.about the meaning of the term ‘soft diet’. These incidents included choking requiring an emergency team response, and aspiration pneumonia; two patients died.  Details Here

Recently released additional guidance by NFCC on mobility scooters in residential buildings.
This guide outlines considerations for responsible persons of residential buildings to help establish the safe use, storage and charging of mobility scooters. It focuses on commonly found situations. There may be alternative  solutions of achieving the protections set out in this guide    Details

The Gas Safe Charity’s UK wide carbon monoxide (CO) workshop 2018.

The Gas Safe Charity is running a free, interactive half day workshop (10am – 1.00pm with lunch) to help organisations become more aware of the sources, signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning, NASHiCS is happy to support this programme.
